This 3-hour free workshop explores the often-overlooked relationship between nutrition and mental health, with a particular focus on how trauma affects eating patterns, appetite, and our relationship with food.
Drawing on research in nutritional psychiatry and neuroscience - as well as extensive clinical experience in trauma work - this workshop is designed to help healthcare professionals recognise and respond to food-related issues with confidence, understanding, and compassion.
The session covers trauma’s links with appetite, executive functioning, gut health, and mood; the spectrum from disordered eating to clinical eating disorders; and practical, shame-reducing approaches for meeting these issues sensitively in clinical settings.
Suitable for therapists, social workers, allied health professionals, and anyone working with people affected by trauma or mental health difficulties.

She has published on nutritional psychiatry in the Irish Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy, Nutritional Psychiatry, and Counselling and Psychotherapy Research, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Irish Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
