Create a luxury faux malachite finish with paint and one simple technique, and achieve the look you want

In this full day workshop you will discover the techniques and equipment to create a malachite paint effect finish. You will then go on to produce a small drum lampshade in this effect with your chosen colour. You will practise the technique first on small boards in the morning and create a lampshade in the afternoon.

By the end of the day you will have mastered the technique and will be able to use this process to update and transform any item into something more stylish and luxururious

You can now use your knowledge and experience to produce bold, contemporary or delicate designs, in your own choice of colours, to incorporate onto furniture, table tops, lamps and many other items you wish to update or add impact

This workshop is led by Ian Newman, B.A. (Hons) M.A. Conservation, Restoration and Decorative Arts

Ian has worked on projects in stately homes as well as on many private commissions, (both large and small!). Over a number of years Ian has restored and transformed many treasured frames and artifacts for clients and customers using non-intrusive techniques as much as a possible, to maintain the integrity of the item. Working with Interior designers and their clients.

This is an introduction to Malachite for those who have little or no experience

The day

Arrive for prompt start at 9.00. (refreshments available) please bring your own packed lunch

Ian will demonstrate the technique and show you the process of creating a malachite paint effect, sharing his experience, and knowledge of the malachite stone

You will then practise the technique on small boards using colours and equipment provided

In the afternoon you will then make a small drum lampshade with a malachite design of your choice of colours

This workshop is set in the warm, friendly and picturesque surroundings of Sandydown, Stockbridge located in the heart of Test Valley. We are just a ten minute drive away from Stockbridge high street, known for its range of independent small local businesses, you will find artisan coffees shops, bakery and delicatessen.

We keep our groups to a small number to ensure you receive one to one instruction for much of the time.

Workshops are limited to five spaces only, book early to avoid disappointment.
