In I Am You , a lifelong bond between painter Maria van Oosterwijck and her companion Gerta becomes a compelling tale of devotion, rivalry and identity. From the studios of the Dutch Golden Age to the doomed freedoms of 1920s Berlin, these dazzling novels explore art as an act of survival, the complexities of desire and obsession and the hidden stories of women too often written out of history.
