From lost coins and jewellery to the everyday objects that connect us with those who came before, beneath our feet lie thousands of years of forgotten lives, waiting to be uncovered. Metal detectorist cousins Ellie Bruce and Lucilla Gray recall how a chance reunion led them to explore the countryside with metal detectors in hand, finding not only remarkable artefacts but a deeper connection to place, family and the past. They are joined by archaeologist and presenter Mark Horton , who led recent excavations in the Cotswolds to reveal a Celtic religious site and hoard, originally discovered by detectorists. Together they celebrate the thrill of discovery and explore how we can all engage with, and protect, our shared heritage.
