Photopolymer Weekend Course
31 October – 1 November
10am-5pm
Tutor: Emma O'Hara
Photopolymer printmaking utilises a light activated printmaking plate that is etched without the need for acid and produces results similar to the 19th century photographic process of photogravure. This course will cover preparing the plate, applying light sensitive film and exposing and printing the image.
In this course we will use Toyobo Print-tight KM73 and Riston Film. The Toyobo plate has a thicker layer of light sensitive polymer and will produce a greater tonal variation in the finished print. The Toyobo plate can also be used to make a plate that will be printed in ‘relief’ like a wood-cut or like letterpress. The Riston plate is less expensive. The film can be stripped off the plate after use and the backing plate re-used. This course is suitable for beginners.
Cork Printmakers reserves the right to cancel any course with insufficient enrolment, and when this occurs any and all prepaid fees will be refunded. Cork Printmakers does not refund fees paid by participants who subsequently cancel their place in a course.
