Join Timothy O’Neill for an introduction on learning to write a medieval script. This will be followed by an introduction to the design and layout of medieval manuscripts.

About the Presenter
Timothy O’Neill has given public lectures, and led educational workshops detailing the medieval traditions behind the manuscripts. He is widely acknowledged to be one of the finest calligraphers in Ireland, and a scholarly authority on the manuscript tradition. He is the author of The Irish Hand Scribes and Their Manuscripts From the Earliest Times (paperback edition forthcoming 2026) and The Irish Art of Calligraphy: A step-by-step guide (2024). An artist calligrapher of state recognition; he is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Modern Irish, University College Cork.
Workshop Instruction: 10am-3pm. Lunch break 12-1pm.
