This year’s Heritage Day celebrates the 100th anniversary of the donation of the Quin Tassie Collection to RCPI by a descendant of Dr Henry Quin (1718–1791). Conserved last year with support from the Heritage Council, this unique collection sits at the intersection of medicine, science and art and provides a fascinating insight into Georgian Dublin and the people who shaped its intellectual and cultural life.

Join our expert speakers as they explore the world of medicine in eighteenth-century Dublin, from the contribution of physicians to civic and cultural life, to the relationship between Dr Henry Quin and the renowned Scottish sculptor James Tassie. The programme will also examine Dr John Gilborne’s The Medical Review, offering a unique perspective on the medical and social landscape of the period.

Following the morning lectures, our speakers will come together for a panel discussion, providing an opportunity to reflect on the enduring connections between medicine, art and society. After coffee, enjoy a special musical performance, by the Irish Baroque Orchestra Young Artists, that will bring the sounds of the Georgian era to life, providing a unique cultural backdrop to the day's exploration of medicine, art and society in eighteenth-century Dublin.
