The €10,000 prize for the 2026 Michel Déon Prize for non-fiction will be announced and awarded at this event in the Royal Irish Academy on 01 October 2026. The ceremony will also feature a lecture by last year’s winner, Fabrice Humbert, and a reception afterwards.
The Michel Déon Prize, which is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, will be awarded to the author of the book that the judging committee consider to be the best work of non-fiction published in the previous two years from the eligible categories: autobiography, biography, cultural studies, history, literary studies, philosophy and travel. The winning author will deliver the Michel Déon Lecture in France in 2027.
