About This Event

The Sonica Glasgow festival brings an algorithmically generated visual and audio work titled *Ricochet* by Paul Russell. The piece involves eight bouncing balls whose random impacts trigger sound as they rebound from the ground. The event takes place at Pollok House on 24 September 2026.

A set of eight algorithmically generated bouncing balls careen around, their impacts as they strike and rebound randomly from the ground setting off a reaction from incandescent bulbs and an octophonic sound board. Audience reactions, in turn, help shape and direct this response, in a playful and wonderfully human articulation of the deepest of emotions. Artist – Paul Russell Midi Interface designer – Nick Packer (Lifeform Oscillator) Lighting Technician – Nia Wood First premiered at Cryptic Nights. Contains: Strobe effects; Flashing lights; Loud or sudden noises.
