About This Event

Unearthed by Sara Vrugt & Ensemble Klang makes its Scottish premiere at Pollok House for Sonica Glasgow. The exhibition explores humanity's relationship with natural disaster.

Scottish Premiere Attempting to outsmart nature, humanity has instead opened ourselves up to natural disaster. Gently but firmly, Sara Vrugt shows us where we’ve gone wrong, using the example of a single tree. Visitors to Unearthed lie on the floor, looking up to a network representing the roots of a tree whose life was cut short by manmade environmental change life, strung with hundreds of chiming bells. Stay a while and meditate beneath their ringing as they summon all who hear them to unite and make changes for the better. Accompanied by a soundscape played by Ensemble Klang. Sara Vrugt – artist & installation creator Pete Harden – soundscape & artistic direction Ensemble Klang Keir Neuringer – composer Litanies of Trees David MacPherson – technician sensory environment Audiences are asked to remove their shoes to experience Unearthed.
