On Saturday, September 9, 2026, the Corporate Wild Work Day at Gillham Wood Nature Reserve will provide an opportunity for employees to disconnect from technology in a full-day digital detox experience. Kick-starting at 10:00 AM, participants will engage in unstructured time amidst woodland and beach settings, fostering connections with nature. The day will feature a variety of outdoor activities aimed at rejuvenating both body and mind. Admission costs £132.30 per individual. This event is designed to offer a refreshing break from the digital world, promoting well-being and environmental awareness among attendees.
Unplug and unwind with a full-day journey through two of nature’s most restorative landscapes – woodland and coast.
Unplug and unwind with a full-day journey through two of nature’s most restorative landscapes – woodland and coast. This unique experience blends mindful moments, hands-on activities, and team connection in both green and blue spaces.
Morning in the Woods: We begin beneath the trees, putting away our phones and stepping into the calm of the forest. As a team, we’ll gather and prepare firewood, build a communal fire, and get the kettle on. You’ll craft your own butter knife from green wood, toast bread over embers, and enjoy simple nourishment in good company. Participate in creative woodland activities games, inviting you to slow down and reconnect.
Afternoon on the Beach: After lunch, we’ll take a short walk to Cooden Beach to explore ocean connection and coastal wildlife. Through group activities, we’ll identify and care for the creatures we encounter, with options to explore birdlife and take part in wild coast exploration experiences. We’ll finish the day with a collective beach clean, leaving the shoreline better than we found it.
This is a day to breathe deeply, move mindfully, and reconnect – with nature, with your team and with yourself.
We do charge for these bespoke events to cover staff time, resources and insurance. The minimum number of people we can run this session for is 12 people with a maximum of 30.
Group of 12-30 people: £1,250 + VAT
(Prices shown on tickets is for deposit only)
A 10% deposit (exclusive of VAT), plus booking fee, is required to confirm your space. VAT will be charged on the final invoice for the full amount.
Meeting Point: The entrance to Gillham Woods, by the bus stop.

Parking and charges: There is free parking all along that stretch of road, Withyham Road, Bexhill.
Toilets: There are no toilets here but the tennis club in Withyham Road has allowed people to use their facilities in the past.
Accessibility: This event takes place in woodland and on the beach. The beach is shingle and the rocks can be slippery. If you have any specific access needs that you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
What should I wear?
We recommend shoes with a grip, like beach shoes, wellingtons or walking boots and a change of shoes for after the session.
Waterproof layers and a warm layer of clothing are recommended if rain is forecast and suncream and sunhat if it is sunny, as we will be outside for the whole session. The beach area will be exposed to the elements, so please dress accordingly.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring refillable bottles for drinking water. We are an environmental charity and highly discourage single-use plastic bottles.
As this is a full day session, please bring a packed lunch, ideally in a reusable container, along with your own tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. Please bring your own cups. If there are any dietary requirements/allergies, please let us know, as we will be providing bread and butter.
It's worth bringing cameras and binoculars if you have them, and we'd love to see your photos, stories and blogs about your day with us.
Don’t forget any medication you may need. You are advised to be up to date with your tetanus immunisation.
We recommend you bring suntan lotion/insect repellent as required.
At most sites there is no facility to leave bags/valuables. We recommend bringing your personal items in a rucksack which can be easily carried with you.
What is provided by Sussex Wildlife Trust?
We will provide all tools and gloves as well as all safety equipment required.
We will show you how to use all tools safely.
A first aider will be available and all volunteers are covered by our insurance when with us.
What if my session is cancelled?
Most activities will go ahead in rain, snow, wind and sometimes even sunshine! You will be informed via email if your session is unable to go ahead and a new date will be arranged. If you are not contacted, the event will be going ahead as planned.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations and rescheduling requests should be made only in exceptional circumstances, with at least 10 working days’ notice. Cancellations made with fewer than 10 working days’ notice will be charged in full. If a booking forms part of a contractual agreement for a set number of sessions, it will be counted as a delivered session even if it does not go ahead. While we will make every effort to accommodate rescheduling requests and changes to the number of participants, this cannot be guaranteed.
