About The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of the Phantom, who lives beneath the Paris Opera House, and his love for Christine Daaé. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score, scenery and special effects combine to bring this tragic love story to the stage.

It first opened at His Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986, with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles. Since then, it has become one of the highest-grossing musicals of all time, winning 70 major theatre awards and being seen by over 140 million people worldwide.

Key facts: Running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one interval. Performances are Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, and on Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Before you book

Age guidance: Children under 4 will not be admitted. Anyone aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and cannot sit on their own in the auditorium. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

Your ticket and seating: You will receive a confirmation email with your e-ticket; please print it and bring it on the day. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, and you may need to show valid ID. Stalls Row N-S have the top of the staging obscured by the Royal Circle overhang, single seats cannot be left in a row when booking, and no exchanges or refunds are available after purchase.
