About This Event

The Strategy Room will hold a discussion on climate change strategies for Wandsworth and Lambeth on 23 September 2026 at The Woodfield Project. The free event invites participants to imagine benefits of a Net Zero future without requiring prior knowledge.

Imagine together the benefits of a Net Zero future, and help create a strategy to get there. No previous knowledge or experience needed.

Are you interested in having a conversation about the concrete steps that could happen in the local area to combat climate change? The Strategy Room is an immersive experience which uses facilitated deliberation, interactive polling and social psychology to identify the climate change policies that will best help each local area to reach net zero emissions.

It’s a way for people to walk in off the street, and within 90 minutes imagine together the benefits of a Net Zero future, and help create a strategy for their local area on how to get there.

We all know that climate change is a problem, but on our own, it’s hard to know what to do about it, especially when there are so many other things to worry about. We need to work together to come up with a plan. This isn’t about giving everything up - it’s about new technologies, smarter ways of living and a future where we could be happier.

Step into The Strategy Room. You’re here today to decide on a plan for a better future. You’ll discuss different options with your fellow participants and vote. Can you deliver a successful strategy for your local area?

Today's session will focus on energy (including domestic heating) and food. The focus will be on collective strategies that could be adopted at a borough-wide level, rather than telling individuals to change their behaviour.

The Strategy Room was commissioned by Nesta and created in partnership with UCL’s Climate Action Unit. It won the Citizen Experience & Insight category at the National Innovation Awards and was shortlisted for the Business Green Awards 2023 in the Behaviour Change category.

The experience was developed with the input of residents and council staff from Lambeth, Sandwell and Southend-on-sea.

This session of The Strategy Room is being run as part of the research for a PhD project at The University of Sussex. At the end of the experience you will be asked if you would be willing to be interviewed anonymously about your experiences, for research purposes.

Places are extremely limited so if for any reason you can no longer make it please let us know immediately and as far in advance as possible, so we can offer your place to others.
