About This Event

The University of Manchester will host a co-research workshop on Wednesday 2 September 2026, delving into the lives of Victorian-era collectors who amassed specimens of plants, insects and animals from across the globe. This day-long session, entitled *The Manchester Naturalists: mapping the people who collected the world*, runs from 10am and invites participants to explore the networks of these largely unsupported figures. Attendees will work alongside academics to investigate archive materials and contribute to mapping the social and scientific contexts of their collecting activities. The event is open to anyone with an interest in natural history or local heritage. Tickets are priced at £30.
