In this one day workshop you will learn how to carve and print linocut in black and white, under the expert guidance of Nick Morley (aka Linocutboy)
Linocut is a printmaking technique which can easily be practised at home. Although the basic principles of linocut are easy to learn, there are several things the beginner needs to know in order to produce successful prints.
In this workshop you will learn:
Which tools and materials to buy
How to plan your image and transfer it to the lino block
How to safely use a range of cutting tools to create a range of marks
How to ink the block correctly
How to print by hand (wooden spoon) and with a printing press
Registration
By the end of the workshop you will have a small edition of your print (A5 size) to take home and the knowledge and skills to continue making linocuts at home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 5 people.
About the Tutor
Nick Morley has been making linocuts for twenty years and has many years of teaching experience. He is the author of two books: Linocut for Artists and Designers (2016) and Linocut: Learn in a Weekend (2023). More of Nick's work can be seen at www.linocutboy.com
About the Studio
Hello Print Studio is an artist-run printmaking studio based at RESORT in Margate. Hello Print Studio has facilities for screenprinting, etching, relief printing and letterpress. The studio is located at 24 Clarendon Road, Margate CT9 2QL
