The Autumn Equinox is the cosmic tipping point—the exact moment of perfect balance before the earth shifts into the introspective, quieter months of the year. It is the ultimate threshold for shedding what weighs you down and reclaiming your authentic personal power.

🌟 Why Friday? Alignment with the Goddess!

We have intentionally chosen Friday for this immersion. Historically, Friday is the sacred day of the Divine Feminine—named for Freya and Frigg, the Norse goddesses of ritual magic and the sacred art of weaving. By stepping off the treadmill of the modern workweek on this day, you honour the ancient rhythm of the Goddess, using her energy to physically weave your medicine hide.

Disconnect from the noise for a single, transformative Friday. Following authentic Lakota traditions passed down to me by Steven Ash (spiritual grandson of Grandfather Wallace Black Elk), you will birth your own living shamanic rattle and learn how to use it for lifelong healing and energetic clearing.

In traditional shamanic practice, a sacred tool cannot bring true healing if the animal it came from was not honored. When an animal is not treated as a sacred being—and processed with reciprocity, respect, and ceremony—the tool carries that heavy energy. We work exclusively with hides that have been honored through proper lineage protocols, ensuring your rattle serves as a pure, clean instrument of healing.

The Flow Of Our Retreat Day

10:00 AM – Welcome & Grounding

Arrive and settle into the space. We begin our day by opening sacred space and gathering in circle with a warm cup of ceremonial cacao or spiced chai tea. We set our intentions for the Equinox and ground our energy for the day ahead.

10:30 AM – The Birth of the Form: Shaping & Weaving

We dive straight into the sacred crafting process. Under gentle guidance, you will choose your hide—whether it be the medicine of Deer, Reindeer, or Buffalo. You will cut your rattle’s unique shape and weave its two faces together using the traditional methods passed down through the Lakota lineage.

11:30 AM – Shamanic Journey to the Spirit of the Rattle

While our rattles begin their initial drying process, we can take a rest and enjoy a guided shamanic journey. You will travel to the spirit world to meet the unique consciousness of your rattle. Connect deeply with the animal spirit of the hide you chose, discover the specific medicine your tool holds, and forge a lifelong alliance with its spiritual essence.

12:30 PM – Communal Lunch Break

A time to nourish our bodies, rest, integrate the morning’s journey, and connect in community.

1:30 PM – Assembly & the Sacred Seeds

With the hides now dry enough to work, we assemble the physical tool. You will attach your rattle handle, decorate it with feathers, and fill it with precisely 405 sacred seeds. As taught in the Lakota way, each seed represents a specific spiritual ally who will speak through the voice of your rattle. You will also have the opportunity to paint sacred symbols on the hide, representing the medicine you wish to share with the world.

2:30 PM – Activation, Medicine Songs & The 4-Round Fire Ceremony

With our rattles fully birthed, we move outside to the sacred fire. Like autumn trees releasing their leaves to prepare for new growth, we use our rattles and the transformative power of fire to let go of old stories, outdated roles, and identities that no longer fit who we are becoming.

We will sing medicine songs and work through a powerful 4-Round Fire Ritual:

Round 1: Gratitude – Offering thanks to all our spiritual allies, ancestors, and guides.

Round 2: Release – Shaking off and feeding the fire the stories and weights we are ready to leave behind.

Round 3: Calling In – Invoking the new intentions, strength, and growth we want to manifest.

Round 4: The Anchor – Commitment to our ongoing path and stepping into our true power.

3:30 PM – Teachings: Activating Your Inner Shaman

We conclude with a vital practical teaching. You will learn how to properly use your rattle to clear heavy energy (hucha) from your own energy field and your home, how to use it to journey independently, and how to keep the connection to your inner shaman alive.

4:00 PM – Closing Circle

We close sacred space, leaving you fully equipped with a powerful, living medicine tool and a clear heart for the season ahead.
