What you’ll doDuring this time Cathy will be sharing various tips and tricks that she uses daily as the only artist who draws with masking fluid. Starting with a demonstration and introduction to the materials and tools. Looking at examples of Piet Mondrian's work and how Cathy's painting techniques can be used to create a painting that draws inspiration from his work and takes it into new directions. You'll create your own design, which can be copied from a Mondrian painting. You'll start with an abstract idea which you are free to embellish within session time. Cathy will show you how to use detailed masking to create a structure. You'll be encouraged to experiment freely with watercolour washes and acrylic inks. The idea is to explore and exploit the unique properties of the various elements used. Finally, you'll learn how to remove masking and reduce the risks of tearing the paper.
