On behalf of English Heritage, and by kind permission of 29 Commando Royal Artillery, join your Guide on this walking tour of the Royal Citadel. Learn about the 350 years plus of the stories the fortress has to offer. Commanding a prominent position on Plymouth Hoe, looking out over the expanse of the Sound and into the Channel and Western Approaches, it has seen the unfolding of so many events in the nation's history.

THIS IS AN OPERATIONAL MILITARY ESTABLISHMENT AND AS SUCH IS SUBJECT TO RIGOROUS SECURITY PROCEDURES.
TOURS MAY BE SUSPENDED OR CANCELLED AT SHORT NOTICE
PLEASE READ THE CONDITIONS OF BOOKING BELOW;
Please arrive promptly at 14:00 for the security checks, late comers will not be admitted
No mobile phones, no electronic devices, no unsealed liquids, no large bags/rucksacks/shopping are allowed within the fortress. There are limited facilities for locked safe storage of mobile phones
No photography allowed
No dogs
There are no public toilets or parking facilities on site
This is a NO SMOKING establishment
All Adult Visitors are required to produce photographic ID (The Regiment are only accepting Driving Licence or Passport ) Accompanied children(2 per adult) under 18 do not require ID
All bags will be searched and in some cases a handheld detector may be used
There are no steps, but some ramps.
The tour is mostly outdoors, be aware of the weather...
Masks may still need to be worn indoors.
Group sizes are limited
There can be no refunds
The Meeting Point for the tours at 2pm, is by the Commando Memorial (see picture below)
in front of the Royal Citadel Main Gate...on Plymouth Hoe
