About This Event

A training session addressing domestic abuse, mental wellbeing and suicide prevention will be held in Southampton on 28 September. The event is free to attend and is aimed at frontline workers in the area.

A training is for frontline workers in Southampton and will explore how domestic abuse informed practice includes suicide prevention.

This in-person workshop is for frontline professionals in Southampton working with families and individuals impacted by domestic abuse and will explore how domestic abuse informed practice includes suicide prevention work.

The session aims to raise awareness of the relationship between domestic abuse and suicide and will provide information about suicide prevention in victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse, including risk factors, what to look out for, safety planning, and how to support and intervene.

We hope to offer a supportive and collaborative space to build confidence in talking about suicide and suicide prevention.

Learning outcomes

Explore the impact of domestic abuse on mental wellbeing

Raise awareness of the links between domestic abuse and suicide and self-harm

Identify how self-harm and suicidality can be an indicator of domestic abuse

Reference homicide reviews and research where suicide has been a factor

This workshop is ideal for frontline workers who already have an understanding of domestic abuse and who are looking to further develop their practice.

Please use a work email when booking a place on this training which will take place in the Civic Centre. Venue and relevant course information will be emailed prior to the training date.
