All are welcome, including book enthusiasts and members of the Portuguese-speaking community in Ireland. About The Architecture of Fear At the heart of a forest there is a city surrounded by walls. Inside, the people are haunted by the memory of The Great Disaster that eliminated two thirds of their population. A dictatorial regime insists that order and discipline will protect the people from the threats of nature, but when a soldier is found mutilated outside the city walls on a winter’s night, a new order takes root silently in the minds of the oppressed. One by one, they gather to listen to the voice of a man claiming to possess the gift of knowing what is to come. The man known as The Messenger. About Sandro William Junqueira Sandro William Junqueira is a Portuguese writer, theatre director and drama teacher whose work is distinguished by its literary depth and its focus on the psychological and symbolic dimensions of the human experience. His novel There Are No Lemons in Heaven ( No Céu não há Limões ) was a finalist for the 2015 Portuguese Writers’ Association’s Grand Prize for Fiction. This event is free but booking is essential. Doors open at 6pm. The James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
