About This Event

A film screening of Edge of Life will be followed by a Q&A and traditional song performance at St Leonards Church in Hastings on 2026-09-17, with tickets priced from £50.00.

Edge of Life: Film Screening & Yawanawá Q&A

A rare opportunity to experience Edge of Life, followed by an in-person conversation, audience Q&A and traditional songs with Yawa Tume and Mew of the Yawanawá, visiting from the Brazilian Amazon.

Edge of Life explores psychedelic-assisted therapy and end-of-life care, moving between pioneering clinical research using psilocybin with people approaching the end of life and the Yawanawá of the Brazilian Amazon. The film opens up profound questions about death, healing and what it means to live when a cure is no longer possible.

What makes this screening particularly special is that the conversation continues beyond the film.

Following the 90-minute screening, Yawa Tume and Mew will join us in person, offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from them, explore some of the questions raised by the film and open the floor for audience Q&A.

The evening will close with traditional Yawanawá songs.

As psychedelics become increasingly mainstream, it feels important that we don't lose sight of cultures that have held relationships with these medicines for generations, and that we consider reciprocity alongside what we can learn from them.

Whether you're interested in psychedelics, end-of-life care, Indigenous perspectives, healing and consciousness, or simply curious about the questions the film raises, you're very welcome.
