The Ageing Well - Responsive Core workshop on 16 October 2027 focuses on the importance of responsive stability in the core as individuals age. Participants will learn how yoga can support essential movements and discover beneficial practices while letting go of counterproductive habits. The workshop aims to enhance understanding of functional anatomy and its application in yoga and daily life.
There are many myths about ‘the core’ and what is best for us, both on and off the mat. As we age, responsive stability at our centre, in harmony with the body’s natural intelligence, remains intrinsic to essential movement such as walking, bending, sitting/standing, rotating, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs. This workshop clarifies how yoga can be a helpful part of this process and what we can let go of in terms of counterproductive practices, habits and beliefs. Softness and strength can co-exist and be nurtured. No sit-ups involved! Join us to explore: Functional and esoteric anatomy relating to the core as we age The benefits, shown by research, of incorporating simple functional exercises, compound movements and appropriate resistance How to apply this new embodied understanding to asana, so that yoga and everyday life support each other as we age with grace Aimed at those over 50 and yogis of all ages welcome. The session will be held live (not recorded) but the price includes a 30-minute time-stamped practice video provided to participants after the workshop to support ongoing practice, available for one month. Participants will be invited to submit a health form in advance and the tutor will take note of any injuries or health conditions, and follow up if necessary. Carol's background A practitioner for over 30 years, Carol offers a range of CPD days and BWY Short Courses. She combines yoga philosophy with sustainable practice grounded in functional anatomy, nervous system health and the subtle body. Other certifications are in yoga nidra (Bihar and iRest) and sports massage therapy and injury prevention. She is experienced in working with adults with both hypermobility and neurodivergence and encourages the natural unveiling of each individual’s inner guide.
