Stuart Hillston will deliver a participative session on artificial intelligence in supervision on 2 July 2027. The session includes breakout work and explores how to name, own, and act on AI in supervisory practice. Tickets start from £1.00.
Your supervisee's client is talking to an AI between sessions. So, quite possibly, is your supervisee. AI is already in the supervision room — the only question is whether we name it. We can ignore it, tolerate it, or embrace it.
I spent forty years in technology before becoming a therapist, coach and supervisor. I use AI openly in my work, with the working practices and norms I would expect of any colleague. I don't believe AI can provide good supervision. Yet. I also think that will change faster than we expect.
Together we will explore three questions. What is it to supervise someone whose client — and who themselves — is using AI? Could AI provide supervision, and what does our answer tell us about what supervision actually is? And how might we use AI in our own practice as supervisors — and should we?
This is a participative session, not a lecture. Expect breakout work, real AI supervision transcripts to critique, and at least one uncomfortable comparison. Supervisors and supervisees are equally welcome, whatever your discipline. You will leave with something concrete to do — not just something to think about.
