HES and Building Standards Division invite you to join us for a special launch event featuring talks from the guide’s authors.

Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Government's Building Standards Division are pleased to announce the launch of the new Guide to Conversion of Traditional Buildings — a major update that replaces the long‑standing Guide for Practitioners 6. The refreshed publication is a partnership project between the two organisations with the support of the Scottish Building Standards Hub and the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS). It brings together the latest thinking, technical insight, and best practice to support sensitive, sustainable, and regulation‑compliant adaptation of Scotland’s traditional building stock.

To mark the launch, we invite you to join us for a special event featuring talks from the guide’s authors. Each contributor will explore their specialist area, offering practical guidance, and a deeper look at the principles that shaped the new edition. Whether you work in conservation, architecture, building standards, surveying, or construction, this is an opportunity to hear directly from the experts behind the guidance and to engage with peers across the sector.
