Eco Crafts Project - Ceramic Fairy Gardens

Join us for 3 sessions of making your own unique fairy garden.

NOTE: This is an event taking place over 3 dates. You must be able to attend all 3 dates to take part.

This is for you to able to complete your project as it can not be completed in one day due to needing to dry and be fired in the kiln twice. (Under 18s who can not attend session 3 due to school are exempt and can book just the two summer holiday dates.)

For session 1 (Thu 6th Aug) you will be using ceramics clay to create your base pot for your garden and add embelishing features with the full support and tuition of our professional ceramicist, Joanna. You will also create fairy doors, miniature houses and other decorations from clay to add to your garden. Your work will then be taken away to be fired in the kiln ready for session 2.

In session 2 (Thu 27th Aug) you will be painting your pot and decorations with glaze, a paint made from finely crushed glass before adding a clear coat. It will then be fired in the kiln again ready for session 3.

Finally we have session 3 (Thu 17th Sept) where you will be planting young succulents and slow growing plants into your garden using a specially mixed soil before adding your decorations and adding finishing touches. You will get a care card for each type of plant you choose to put in your garden.

OPTIONAL: On the 26th and 27th September, there is Bishop Auckland Harvest Festival where you have the option to submit your fairy garden into the competition. More information will be available during the sessions

This event is primarily for adults.

A maximum of 5 children allowed per session.

We ask that:

All attendees must be over 10 years old

Each under 18 must be supervised by a participating adult
