The Whitworth and Manchester Sands warmly invite you to a special evening to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week and take part in the global Wave of Light.

This gentle, supportive event is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth, as well as family members, friends and anyone who would like to gather in remembrance.

During the evening, you are invited to join in creative workshops, including bracelet making and lantern decorating. There will be calming live music and a chance to light a candle as part of the global Wave of Light at 7pm.

This is a family event, with a sensory baby area, creative activities for children and adults, and space to simply be together.

Babies and young children may be present. We understand this may feel sensitive for some, so please do whatever feels right for you on the evening.

Since 2019, The Whitworth has worked alongside parents who have experienced the loss of a baby, using art workshops as a way to process grief, support connection and create softly held spaces for remembrance. These workshops are called Still Parents and continue to run monthly in partnership with Manchester Sands. *What is the global Wave of Light? Each year on 15 October, people around the world light candles at 7pm local time to remember babies who have died during pregnancy or shortly after birth, creating a wave of light across time zones.
