Jan Hawkins leads a session on developmental stage clues in dissociative work on 13 November 2026. The workshop offers insights into how traumatic experiences at different developmental stages influence dissociative behaviours. It focuses on supporting clients dealing with childhood trauma.
This session continues from Jan’s 19 Sep 2026 workshop on person-centred attunement with dissociative clients. It also works as a stand-alone.
We really encourage colleagues to watch the first session before joining this one. The recording is available to buy here:

You are very welcome to come to this second session whether or not you were live for the first — catching up on the recording first will help you get the most from the developmental stages material we will go into here.
Do you find it challenging to support clients dealing with the complexities of dissociation due to childhood trauma? This workshop offers vital insights through discussion, to help you assist these clients in their recovery journey.
We will examine how traumatic experiences at different developmental stages influence dissociative behaviours, enabling you to better attune to your clients' needs. You will leave with actionable insights:
1) Recognise the signs of childhood trauma in adult clients;
2) Learn effective methods for engaging with their younger dissociated selves;
3) Integrate developmental psychology with person-centred practices in your therapeutic approach.
Our session will unfold in three parts: a video demonstration of therapeutic attunement, discussions to reflect on practice, and an overview of some relevant developmental theories. My aim is to create a compassionate space for therapists to explore their role as supportive allies in the healing process.
