Kerry Woodcock leads an experiential workshop on disappointment for coaches and supervisors on 16 November 2026. Participants will use individual reflection and conversation to explore meaning-making in their practice. The session takes place online and tickets are available from £1.00.
What happens to us as practitioners when reality doesn’t become what we imagined?
Whether we work as coaches, team coaches, leaders, supervisors, therapists or systemic practitioners, disappointment enters the room with us. We may be disappointed by what someone does or doesn’t do, by a team or system that doesn’t shift, by ourselves—or sometimes by reality itself.
Our disappointment can reveal something important: what we value, what we expected, the future we had imagined, and what our own autobiography has taught us to bring when something important seems to be missing.
This is an experiential workshop, not a webinar. Come with a real disappointment from your own practice. Through individual reflection, conversation and embodied exploration, we’ll use it as a doorway into your meaning-making and use of self.
Together, we’ll explore the dynamic tension between:
CREATE WHAT COULD BE ∞ MEET WHAT IS
and notice what happens when our capacity to influence, challenge, care, create or bring possibility quietly becomes a responsibility to make something happen.
In this workshop, you will:
- explore what your disappointment reveals about your values, expectations and autobiography;
- identify something you have learned to bring to your practice—and notice when that capacity becomes a responsibility you carry for others;
- experience CREATE WHAT COULD BE ∞ MEET WHAT IS as a way of discerning when to exercise agency and when to meet the reality that is here;
- notice how disappointment can recruit you into familiar roles in your work with others;
- explore what is yours to influence, meet or release—and what you want to remain faithful to.
You’ll leave with a different way of working with disappointment: not simply as something to overcome, but as information about who you are becoming in response to what is happening.
Come with a disappointment you are willing to become curious about.
