The workshop titled The Pluralistic Approach: How to Personalise Therapy to Client Needs will be held on 14 November 2026. Led by Mick Cooper, this two-part workshop will introduce a pluralistic approach to therapy, focusing on adapting practices to meet individual client needs. The workshop will be accessible in both English and Japanese.
Clients come to therapy with different needs, goals, and preferences. Yet many practitioners feel pulled toward using familiar models or fixed ways of working.
This two-part workshop introduces a pluralistic approach to therapy, offering a clear and practical way to adapt your work to each client while staying grounded in your own orientation.
Developed by Mick Cooper and John McLeod, this approach is now widely used across counselling and psychotherapy. It brings together humanistic values with integrative practice, supporting therapists to work flexibly, collaboratively, and with greater clarity.
At the centre of this approach is a simple but powerful shift: working with clients to understand what they want from therapy, and how best to support them.
**Language Access**
We warmly welcome participants joining in either Japanese or English. The workshop will be presented in English with live Japanese interpretation throughout. Participants will be able to choose whether to listen in Japanese or English, and may contribute in the chat in either language.
