Reiki 1 for Animal Owners

Learn Reiki from the beginning, receive your Reiki 1 attunement, and discover how to use Reiki with your own animals in a calm, respectful and animal-led way.

This course is designed for people who want to learn Reiki primarily for themselves and the animals they live with and care for.

You do not need any previous Reiki experience.

How the day works

The morning session is your Reiki 1 foundation training.

You will:

Learn the principles and foundations of Reiki

Receive your Reiki 1 teaching

Receive your Reiki 1 attunement

Learn how to work with Reiki for yourself

Receive your comprehensive Reiki 1 manual

This morning session follows the same Reiki 1 foundation as our Reiki 1 course for people.

In the afternoon session, instead of practising Reiki with different people, the focus moves to using Reiki with animals.

We will look at working with:

Dogs

Cats

Horses

Rodents

Reptiles

You will learn how working with animals can differ from working with people, how to offer Reiki without forcing interaction, and how to recognise when an animal is comfortable, curious, disengaged or wants to move away.

If you already have Reiki 1, you can join us for the afternoon Animal Reiki session only for £50.

The afternoon-only option includes the Animal Reiki teaching and your comprehensive Animal Reiki manual.

You will need to have already completed Reiki 1 before attending the afternoon-only session.

Choice, consent and animal welfare

A central part of this course is the principle that Reiki should be offered to an animal, not imposed upon them.

Animals should always have the freedom to choose whether they engage, move closer, move away or ignore what is being offered.

Because of this, we do not bring animals into the training session for students to practise on.

We do not believe animals should be placed into a training environment simply for the purpose of practice.

Instead, the afternoon session teaches you how to adapt Reiki for animals so that you can begin using it gently with your own animals afterwards, in their familiar environment, where you already understand their normal behaviour and can observe their responses appropriately.

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal if you:

Are completely new to Reiki and want to complete Reiki 1

Want to learn Reiki for yourself and your own animals

Already have Reiki 1 and want to add Animal Reiki knowledge

Are more interested in working with animals than practising Reiki with people

Want an approach based on calm observation, choice and respect for the animal

What does this course qualify me to do?

If you attend the full day, you will complete Reiki 1, receive your Reiki 1 attunement and complete the additional Animal Reiki teaching.

If you attend the afternoon-only session, you will be building on the Reiki 1 training you already hold.

The Animal Reiki element is intended for personal use with your own animals or animals you care for.

It is not an Animal Reiki Practitioner qualification and does not qualify you to use the title Animal Reiki Practitioner or offer professional Animal Reiki services.

If your main interest is learning Reiki to work with people, our Reiki 1 for People course covers the same morning Reiki 1 foundation and attunement, with the afternoon practical session focused on working with people instead.

Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice and should not be used as a replacement for veterinary care, diagnosis or treatment and should not be used as a replacement for veterinary care, diagnosis or treatment.

The studio address is Gillingham Marina – 173 Pier Rd, Gillingham ME7 1UB. This is also where The Waterfront, Leisure and Restaurant is – (but you are not going there, it’s just handy for satnav etc).

When you arrive there is a security gate, please give your name and say you are visiting Sian Murphy at the Savvy Skills Office in the Marina Offices.

Then drive forwards – straight forwards only for a short while until you see cars parked either side. Park and message Sian on this number 07951168863 and we will come and collect you.
