Drawing on private family archives and sharing his own memories, he reveals the woman behind the unforgettable stories, from Rebecca and Jamaica Inn to The Birds , and the family, influences and experiences that shaped her imagination. In conversation with Laura Varnam , a leading expert on du Maurier’s work, they explore the contradictions of Daphne’s life: a writer born into privilege who defied convention, a woman surrounded by fame who guarded her privacy, and an artist whose stories continue to haunt readers generations later.
