4-Week Sashiko Embroidery CourseMake Your Own Tote Bag
Sundays, 18 October – 8 November 2026
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Some things are better made slowly.
Over four Sunday mornings, you’ll step away from screens, noise and rushing, and spend a few quiet hours learning Sashiko — the Japanese art of decorative hand stitching.
Using simple running stitches and traditional geometric patterns, you’ll gradually transform a plain tote bag into something entirely your own.
No experience is needed. Just come as you are.
The Experience
Each week, we’ll build on the last.
You’ll learn how to prepare your fabric, transfer a Sashiko pattern, create even stitches and slowly develop your design across your tote bag.
There is no pressure to be perfect.
The beauty of Sashiko is in repetition — one stitch, then another, until something beautiful begins to appear.
Over Four Sundays
18 October — Begin
Discover Sashiko, choose your pattern and learn the foundations of the running stitch.
25 October — Build
Continue your design, settle into the rhythm of stitching and begin seeing your tote take shape.
1 November — Refine
Work deeper into your pattern, improve your technique and add the details that make the piece yours.
8 November — Finish
Complete your embroidery and leave with a handmade Sashiko tote bag created entirely by you.

Do I need any embroidery experience?
Not at all. This course is designed for complete beginners. We’ll start with the basics and guide you step by step throughout the four weeks.
What exactly will I make?
You’ll create your own Sashiko embroidered tote bag using traditional Japanese-inspired patterns and hand-stitching techniques.
Do I need to bring anything?
No. Everything you need for the course will be provided, including your tote bag, thread, needles, patterns and materials.
Are all materials included in the ticket price?
Yes. All materials needed to complete your tote bag are included.
Can I take my project home between sessions?
Yes. Your tote bag is yours from the beginning, so you can continue stitching at home if you would like to.
What if I don’t finish my tote bag during the four weeks?
That is completely fine. Sashiko is a slow craft, and everyone works at a different pace. You’ll leave with the skills and materials you need to continue your project at home.
Do I have to attend all four sessions?
We strongly recommend attending all four sessions, as each week builds on the previous one. This will also give you the best chance to complete your tote bag and enjoy the full experience.
