Many counsellors, psychotherapists and coaches spend hours each week working at a computer. Your clients may do the same. But what happens when prolonged desk work starts to affect the body and eventually everyday life? Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) is often seen simply as a physical problem. Yet pain, fatigue and physical limitations can have consequences for confidence, mood, work, relationships and independence. This webinar will explore RSI from a wider perspective and consider why it may be relevant to therapeutic work. We will look at how RSI can affect people who spend long periods at a computer, including both practitioners and their clients, and consider some of the less obvious ways physical difficulties can influence wellbeing and everyday functioning. The webinar will also explore some of the questions surrounding RSI: why it develops, what can contribute to it, why symptoms may persist, and what can help. The aim is to give practitioners a broader understanding of an issue that may be much more relevant to their work and their own working lives than they initially realise.
